Meadville 1827

The Finney & Mead Families

I have been researching the David Mead and Robert Finney families of Meadville, Pennsylvania for the last 35 years. A will dispute between the two families in 1827 became a final focus in my research. Extensive genealogical records and court documents made it possible for me to develop the narrative of this story and to publish it on this website.

Books

For the rest of the story of the Finney/Mead will dispute of 1827, we will shift the narrative to a play script of the events leading up to the trial.

Piles of Books

David Mead (1752-1816) was among the first settlers to the Meadville area in 1789. Robert Finney (1744-1827) came there a little later, in 1793. This is the story of the early beginnings of these two men and their families.

Man with Book

This is a play script of the trial conducted in the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas during its November, 1827 term.
